Sodium Soybeanate

Sodium soybeanate is formed during the saponification of soybean oil.

The fatty acids naturally found in soybean oil are mixed with sodium hydroxide also known as lye. This chemical process forms sodium soybeanate (soap) and glycerin.

The high oil content of the soybeans means that the soybean plant can be classified as an oil plant. Soybean oil is a fatty oil that can be extracted by pressing or boiling when the oil is extracted from the soybeans.
